…air conditioning…
…refrigerators (take nothing for granted)…
…cold lemonade in ice-filled glasses…
…air conditioning…
…summer-times clothes that don’t take up much room in the washing machine (meaning I can skip a day or two and it won’t overwhelm me)…
…pool memberships…
…summer-time agendas that permit propping up one’s feet and drinking cold drinks…
…naturally cool basements…
…and, did I mention…air conditioning?
Amen!
Now if you were back in VA you’d be enjoying those storms and flooding AND the 100% temps!!!>Keep cool in the air conditioning and as my boys would often say “don’t sweat the small stuff, Mom. we could lose electricity!”
AMEN Sister! >>I held off as long as I could, but today, the AC is on. >>I grew up, as I suspect most people did, without air conditioning. (I’m in my 30’s). So I can’t actually believe how spoiled we all are these days. >>I thank God for Air Conditioning, just the same.
Amen I say again!>>In the middle of the night I wake up and say, “Thank you God, for air conditioning.”
We don’t use AC but Amen too!
So last night we were hit with a huge storm. I was thanking God for the rain because we’ve been in drought. And I was trying to sleep amidst all the thunder and lightning. >>And then a nearby strike knocked power out and I had to peel myself off the ceiling. My German Shepherd was looking at me to do something to handle her sense of unrest. I couldn’t do a thing. So I took a large votive candle and went downstiars (the flashlight on the dresser was just too obvious to grab), and we spent some time there, because it was cooler. >>Because, of course, there was no AC. >>I actually laid awake for awhile, thinking of the hot, humid day ahead of us, promising to be one of the more uncomfortable of the year…and no AC. >>Thank God, our power came back on around 6 am. And the AC kicked in immediately. >>So thank God for rain and AC!
Yeah, I don’t know how we managed without A/C as kids…although I do remember my mom having us nap in the basement on really hot days. Neighbors said we lose power a lot here – so far, we haven’t. God is being really nice to this pregnant lady! With my last baby – born at the end of June – it was HOT, but not as bad as it’s been recently, and the A/C unit broke. Maintenance was slow to respond (several days) and I was a very pregnant, hysterical lady on the phone demanding immediate service. I think if it had gone on any longer, I’d have started calling Generals or their wives looking for some higher help!
