Those crazy Crossfitters: Man who caused post office shutdown was jogger in unusual gear
“It was like straight out of a movie,” he said. “Some of my friends are telling me, ‘Hello? 9/11? Anthrax? Blah. Blah. Blah.’ And I’m just thinking about my finals and staying in my own little zone.”
I’ve been doing Crossfit for about 6 months now, and I’ve never worn body armor or a gas mask. Admittedly, they do suggest weighted vests (body armor) for some workouts for the “Big Dawgs”, which I am not. But no gas masks, really.
Bill is waiting for me to start wearing knee high socks like all the hard-core Crossfit chicks, but I’m telling ya: it ain’t happening.
I assume, if you've been doing it for 6 months, you like Crossfit. Do you do it on your own or do you go to a Box? It seems like I know more and more people who are doing Crossfit.
We have a weight bench, fortunately (or not, depending on how we feel, generally PCSing makes us hate it), so I do it at home. This limits what I can do…no rope climbing (not that I can)…but I'm not a hard-core Crossfit chick with knee-high socks anyway.
It doesn't take very long, it is actually quite aerobic (I have to stop to catch my breath), and it is scaled to suit you (I go to a web site called CrossfitBrandX.com which has a forum and they post a scaling – I am usually a “buttercup” or a “puppy” but have been thinking recently that I could try and do more “pack” level stuff). However, I don't know that one really LIKES Crossfit…it's a sort of love/hate thing. I saw a t-shirt that had “I {skull image} Crossfit” and THAT pretty much sums it up.
wooow nice story
