Attn: Military Families

Disney World is offering a great deal this year.

The last time they did something similar was in 2003. The year Bill spent in Kosovo. This time, Bill is supposed to go to Afghanistan.

Wondering if we can squeeze in a PRE-deployment vacation. Or dare I take the kids solo???

  1. You must be CRAZY to think you can do this alone!! It’s a great place for kids. Although some of my fellow Catholic, pro-life friends scorn at my mentioning Disney to them, I still think it’s a wonderful place for kids to go to (I think they are on the American Life League boycot list as are most companies, it seems). We’ve done it twice, hope to do it sometime this year and I can’t imagine going with my 5 without my husband!

  2. We took 4 kids 5 years old and under in 2004, so I know how bad it would be.Nonetheless, I am a bit on the crazy side. If enough people double dog dare me, and it’s in the budget, I just might go for it.

  3. I don’t think it would be bad at all. 🙂 It’s still a lot of money, though, for all these kids! We went to Disney World in ’01 for my BIL’s wedding. I may be the only one in the world who was disappointed. I didn’t think it was worth it, and I wasn’t even paying!

  4. Thanks for the heads up. We’re planning to go after Gary gets back from his deployment, this fall, so this will help a lot.I think you could handle it. Those older kids are a big help. But, if you could find another ‘single’ mom to go along, it might help.I’ve done that with my mom (she has little ones, also).

  5. Well, I for one will double dog dare you. Worst case scenario, you end up with some great blog fodder. 🙂When is the deployment expected?

  6. Go…c’mon. It’ll be fun. (If it’s wacky you’ll have great blog material.)

  7. We are going in May! Since we only work for the military, I don’t think we get this kind of deal. Disney is offering the buy 4 nights get 3 free, and that is what we are taking advantage of! We are so excited to go!You all will have a blast.

  8. We did this back in 2001, right after September 11, back when we were both in the military. I was in Georgia and he was at the Pentagon. We both got in free and we only had one child at the time and she was under three so she was free. I was also pregnant, so we got medical parking and got to fast pass all of the lines. It was great. Besides the fact that I was 7 mos. pregnant and swollen and uncomfortable.

  9. We did this in 2002, and I have been begging Disney to have another deal like this for military (they actually called me about it after my emails). NOW they offer it, now that I’m so far away it cost me a fortune to fly the whole family there! WHY didn’t they offer this when I was still on the east coast?????

  10. I doubledog dare you.I’ve never been to Disney World, but Disneyland a few times.

  11. I can’t make any commitments at this point, but if you decide to go and then begin to dread doing it solo, let me know. I might be able to come along to help out.
