Happy Epiphany

This recipe is proof that if you don’t prefer sweet potatoes, you simply haven’t added enough sugar to them. I do think I’ll go a tad easier on the rum next time, but I do think there will be a next time.

Katie found the 50 pfenning coin in the King Cake, so she got a new I Spy book. She also happened to find the pickle on the tree Christmas morning, and received a straw dispenser. Anybody else do fun Christmas games like these?

  1. My husbands family does the King cake. It’s fun. I was a borning mom and didn’t do it this year. Maybe next time. King cake is oh-so-yummy.

  2. Fun games… tell us more about them. King cake? Pickle on the tree? do tell…

  4. My mom still does the King’s Cake with all of us. The other fun part of Epiphany is that we each get an ornament that reflects our lives at that point. It certainly helped out my first married Christmas because I have yet to buy a single ornament for myself (although I continue the tradition by buying for my kids and husband). Now each year we decorate the tree it’s not only fun, but a memory constantly in the making.

  5. Love the new pics!We did the King Cake sans baby/bean. I think we need to buy a pickle (assuming you use an ornament and not a real pickle?)!

  6. Carl and I do the one where you find a pickle… but we don’t only play it during Christmas. wink wink.

  7. Wow- are you short! And what’s up with the girls’ hair? Like, how could you do that to Jenny? Hahahahahahaha! Maybe next year I will be at your house for the pickle and cake thing. Maybe Morgan will find the pickle and get a spatula! Won’t that be fun!

  8. Hey! My kids <>like<> the straw dispenser!I’m not short…Bill is really tall. I think he’s also wearing his stilletto heeled combat boots and I’m wearing frumpy slippers. And, yes, please come to my house next Christmas, PLEASE. I’ll cut Morgan’s hair for free.
